Dirt
The dirt in the creases of my hands
Points its finger and mocks me.
It laughes and says
Here you go again.
You tried so hard to get away from me.
You thought you could escape.
You thought an education could save you.
YOu thought wrong.
I've been your lifelong companion, buddy.
You've had your hands in me for so long
I've grown to like you
And I don't go away so easy.
I bet you'll always have
If not me,
Something on your hands
That you don't want there
And so I get up,
Go to the sink,
And scrub
And scrub
And scrub.
