One Should Never Drink Alone
And one never quite does.
The label has words on it.
And an ex-wife used words,
Used lots of them actually.
The landlord used words --
"Rent due," "eviction notice," ect.
And the draft board used words
To express its sincere greetings.
Then, the label has pictures:
Scenes like some tropic place
You never took a vacation to;
Gaudy images like something
Someone you know grabbed from
A drugstore rack of quaintness.
And the glass has moisture on it,
Just like water on everyday windows
Anybody could look out of or into.
One should never drink alone --
He might simply enjoy his drink,
A simple, natural alcoholic waterfall.
