Three Poems by Abraham Gibson

the edge of town

stabbing in patterns
cookie cutter patterns

a shamrock
a star
a heart

with my brain
blown out
i'm wandering
trying to escape
synthesized reality
but the
landscape
folds up
and
nips at my heels

small town sheriffs
escort me to
the edge of town

slow going in post-apocalyptic scenes of crumbling civilization

stale heat
and
nowhere
desert landscapes
outside
these
four
walls
that i kick
against
like my
mother's womb
when i
wanted out

bloodyears

the future
far away
from here
is ringing
in my ears
my bleeing ears
so happy to
be coming home

scrambled up
dreams
crowded
parties
rooms
full of
dead situations
played out in
the past
that bleed into
future days

one act plays
with the secret
lessons of life
