Jordan, day 4: Petra
Today was devoted to a visit to the most incredible ancient site of Petra which is soon to be included in the great ancient wonders of the world. A lot of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was filmed here... anything to do with colossal rock structures. Check out http://nabataea.net/walk.html for lots of info and pictures. It was a 3-hour ride each way and a 3- or 4-mile walk through the ruins. Okay, take that back. Carla [Mercado] and I rode in a one-horse buggy driven by a talkative Bedouin most of the way back.
