Born and raised in Northern Ireland, Brian Rice moved to the United States for graduate school, then taught at The Evergreen State College, Olympia, Washington, for fifteen years before becoming an academic administrator, and is currently at The University of Montana Western in Dillon, Montana. He began photographing as a way of learning to observe, to see what's there, about ten years ago. That fascination with the work of observation has only grown over time. He has had exhibits in Boston, Massachusetts, Dillon, Butte, and (currently) Bozeman, Montana, and has been published in several real and virtual poetry and arts magazines including The Adirondack Review, Hoboeye, and Filling Station.
