there are sycophants on my timeline again,
oh dear the trite meddling on Sunday's afternoons.
beguiling me with their recipes and gaudy cartoons
while i write trying
to contain a lifetime
on a timeline
The street musician
in tattered clothing
begged for change
strumming bitterness
into April
Denying the arrival of anniversaries
I enlisted the weathered man
and watched his unraveling scarf
while he sang me
summertime
