Artist's commentary on "St. Sebastian"

Initially inspired by a painting by Andrea Mantegna: St. Sebastian. My version is an attack aimed not only at cheats in sport, but also at the root cause behind cheating in general. The pressure put on people to win at all costs is to me where the problem lies. That and the love of money: the root of all evil. Relax! It’s only a game.

I wasn't aware before I did this painting that St. Sebastian is the patron saint of athletes...
