The Bookstore --> Ira Cohen
Poems from the Akashic Record is a book of poems and photographs by Ira Cohen. While Ira has published books in Europe and Asia, Poems from the Akashic Record is the first book from a US publisher to contain only his work.
In the words of the publisher: "This is a marvelous collection of work spanning five decades, decorated with photographs by the author, of friends and family, most well-known. Paul Bowles, William Burroughs, Gregory Corso, Brion Gysin, Jack Smith; a generation of great persons already gone on ahead, these were his friends and subjects. Many more are still here with us, the people who struggle to keep alive the fragile and panting bird that is art in all colors of feather. His beautiful photographs were shown recently at the Cynthia Broan gallery on West 14 Street in Manhattan, including some of his famous Mylar Chamber portraits of Jimi Hendrix, Wm. Burroughs and Jack Smith.
"His poems are lush springs of beauty built on the airs of thought, memory, love, flight, and mystery, each a letter in itself to all who love poetry and the adventure of living. From Morocco to Paris to New York, these poems are windows onto a world slipping from us day by day as well as prophetic mirrors of the future. This book is a celebration."
Poems from the Akashic Record is $12 and can be ordered directly from Panther books.
