Crucifixion TimesB. Z. Niditch's book of poetry, Crucifixion Times, was published in 1998 by University Editions. It presents a powerful and passionate examination of the tumultuous landscape of the 20th Century.

B. Z. is committed to an exploration of reality by discovering and presenting truth--especially the uneasy and painful truths we cannot afford to hide from: social repression; fascist and totalitarian regimes; the Holocaust; the economic injustices of capitalism; the difficulty of daily life.

This work is marked by a devotion to language as a means of uncovering the truth of our times. Through the use of rich symbolism, striking imagery and hidden meaning, B. Z. attempts to bring an immediacy and vitality to the full range of events that make up our crucifixion times. Reviewer William Doreski had this to say about it:

As Niditch remarks in his opening poem, "Soon a century / will have written us off." If our poetry is to bear sufficient witness to embrace our history as well as our personal passions we need to learn to subsume the ego-worship that dominates contemporary American culture and embrace a larger world. Some of our poets and artists already know this; disdaining the artificial marketplace that others mistake for the whole of American culture, these individuals are finding more permanent modes of expression. In a characteristically modest way, B. Z. Niditch is one of these brave few.
