Big Talk
When the glass has been filled again.
and again, points of view expounded,
challenged, restated, disputed,
locution begins to wear, the less verbose
withdraw, some stay to be polite,
exhaustion sits heavy on drooping eyes.
One or two still prate as though gems
of wisdom had not been uttered six
times before. Thirst demands a refill.
Refreshed, they sink deeper, sure they’ll
dredge creative forces no one guessed
might gush from such a shallow well.
