Deus Vult!

God wills it-
or so says a
slightly balding
bishop wielding
works like Milton
in a vaguely
Gothic Era
Cathedral.

Papal edicts,
votes by the
     Southern Baptist
Convention,
Pentecostal
rambling,
     The rants
of Martin Luther.

In most games
     Bishop takes pawn.

     A plainly clad
     Preacher tells
     us we are 
     all our own
     Priesthood
     as we sit
     in wooden
     pews.

A thousand 
contradicting
voices-
all claiming 
divine volition
behind stained glass
windows.
