death in an 
anonymous room 
in the absolute heat 
of summer 

no note 
no sound 
and a child at home 
watching the sitter grow 
bored 

and it's a 
gradual thing 
this tub filling with 
pink water 

it's an obvious thing 
and done without 
the apparition of christ 

not every act is 
a plea 
for forgiveness
