the view from the roof

open eight story rise
just far enough to
for sure kill you

many men have survived the six
even seven story jump

but no one in recorded history
has made it back from the eight story suicide

I contemplate the facts
with
pennies tossed at windows of cars below

everything has to fall fast
from this height

the grass on the ground is green
from eight story roofs
and
one second before you hit the ground
