When she found out about him
she jerked open the drawers
of every dresser in the flat
tossed the contents all over the floor
she smashed boxes
flung bottles of perfume
cosmetic jars
at the furniture and walls
she yanked pillows from the bed
punched them as if
they were his face
burst their white flesh
releasing a haze of swirling down
she neither saw nor heard anything
but his face as she wrecked and plundered
by the time I arrived
she was hunched up in
a corner of the room
surrounded by carnage
feathers stuck to tears
the shreds of their life together
pasted to the last of her makeup
