The worst nightmares are dreams of hope;
dreams of a future unattainable in life
but flirting with your fingertips
as you sleep.

I've dreamt of a world in which
the guy always gets the girl,
children always come home,
and we are always inches away from a viable peace.
I would rather wake up screaming from horrifying visions

than fly in Utopian dreams
and wake to find my shattered reality
solidly restored.
