Sweet Ass on Cold Ice, or, Ego and Reasoning Run Amok
by Sub-commandante X

To the archived articlesMight as well forget the past. We could get there from here, but why? We gotta get beyond what ‘IS’. We know what we want and this sure ain’t it.

If it looks like a big job, better sit down. (And don’t think.) Too much ego and reasoning run amuck around here. Silence the mind is the antidote.

It’s never what you think it is, is it? Not even close. And still we send in the bulldozers.

Russian subs kill young sailors. American subs kill Japanese students. It’s the job of the military to kill. Why do you still have a problem with that?

“You think too much. You worry me to death.”

Goes a song that never was. Oh, get serious. Put that sweet ass on cold ice for a spell, and come over here. We gotta rap.

Try something new. “They keep ya doped with religion, sex, and TV,” like Lennon said. And by now that’s getting pretty old.

Still, the Suzy Randall brochure looks real nice, granted. But, stay with me now, maybe it just makes sense. Maybe it is age, but just can’t continue to give unsolicited feminine energy carte blanche to distract your time and mind indefinitely.

Well, no doubt about it, it’s still a fun diversion. But it’s lost some of its urgency along the way. Not tonight, dear, maybe later. No, I don’t have a headache.

But there’s something else to do, and learn. (Earn experience.) Knowledge is never neutral. You gotta act on it.

“Knowledge is a social rather than an individual product.” In the university, “knowledge is capitalized and taken out of the reach of those who need it most”

In Los Angeles, the sexy activist used to say, with a wink,

“Freedom is a matter of choice.”

And, you know that’s true. Often, we would talk as she took her bath at her place in Venice. I’d say we just talked, but mostly we were smoking something.

She liked French cigarillos to cap off the grass.

At the time, we knew it was ‘cosmic’ as we rapped, and put that sweet ass on hold for the time being, anyway.

We got a little glimpse of the infinite universe, and its endless possibilities.

Sub-X is a survivor of the radical '60s. These days he's attempting to get beyond the 'Them' and 'Us' duality of Conflict Consciousness. Trying to eliminate conflict from one's reality is a lot like dealing with alcohol. It's an on-going process. Currently, Sub-X seeks solutions and asks, "Why not more beauty, love, and joy?" We know we can do so much better. OK, so why not?
