Mother was a perfectionist
who loved to clean-

dusting, mopping, vacuuming...

But she went all the way to the grave
without ever grasping 
that, no matter how hard she scrubbed
and how many sheets she changed,

whatever it was that had happened to her

she'd never wash away.
