  (this is the truth)

and nothing but.
the painting of an injured
voice, the indelible images
of chaos and death, as still
another fallen soldier vanishes--
stoic faces face
my loss as just another part of
the eye of history departed,
where haunted mansions belong
to skin peeled from burned hands,
restless feet, and often
blown apart 
during lavish sunset banquets
held by the garden pool--
when the old concierge
brings our breakfast caviar,
forget the tip...
you lie naked beneath those
black satin sheets
and your trousers are
half way across the room
