Music-In-Fusion
The horns interrupt, a dissonance
in a promised evening. Cross-
cultural references, he mentioned,
fusion of tonal scales
sounds a lot like discord
breaking out in the string section
that started out drifting in musical thought
like a fishing boat on a laughing bay
till a sudden storm of timpani dashed
the brains out of that. Disease
or madness in bio-music, bloody
babies screaming to a random
metronome. The brass again
just plain rude, a straddled cello
sits mute
while that single trumpet,
deus ex machina, rushes
roughshod through the house.
Through any hopes you had
for fusion.
