Repairing a Cracked Nut
He wondered what he could do
to get through to her
her arms
her legs
crossed,
sitting next to him
thinking to himself that
she
was going to be
a hard nut to crack
but what he didn't know
was that she was already
a cracked nut
split in the sides
between
secret coves
and splintered
attics.
She furiously
glues
her delicate shell
beforehand
-hoping he won't see the cracked mistakes
-hoping the mistakes won't crack
beginning, during, or after
she entertains his clear
cut
glass.
Meanwhile,
her arms
and
her legs
are
crossed,
trying to
hold shaky teacups
filled with
cream and sugared principles
from accidentally
spilling on to the floor.
