Whether he's discussing politics, plumbing, or the immortal words of New Age gurus, Wayne Scheer eviscerates our culture with glee and abandon. His cynicism is so strong that you can taste it, but he never loses a sense of joy and humor that can only be compared to optimism. His short stories will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you groan with the inevitable despair caused by the futility of life. You're bound to find them as much fun as I did.
AAfter teaching writing and literature in college for twenty-five years, Wayne Scheer recently retired to follow his own advice and write. In the past couple of years he's published about fifty stories and essays, mostly flash fiction. Some of his work has appeared in Flashquake, Literary Potpourri, E2K, Scrivener's Pen, The Rose and Thorn, The Phone Book and Fiction Warehouse. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and pet turtle. Since his wife isn't home during the day and his turtle refuses to talk, he enjoys answering email and can be contacted at wvscheer@aol.com.
