Waffle House

The morning I was to leave for New York,
My parents took me to the Waffle House
For breakfast. I wanted the Steak & Cheese
Omelet, but Daddy said the Ham & Cheese was betta
Cuz it came with extra sausage.
Who can resist toast, lightly brown in the shape
Of building trestles, them little cups of Country Crock
Butta they give ya.
Welch’s grape jelly in a cube.
I’m a cocksucker for two blankets of cheese
Melting over a snow of hot grits.
I prefer orange juice to milk
Don’t care much for hot drinks
