What We Could ExplainTo Part 2 Coming to StayTo Part 4

Lindsay's Book
part 3

Overboard

lots of big thoughts and ideals
you had to look good
even during a revolution

Che' wore a beret
you wore panty hose
a new pair every day

and the crystal bowl, overboard
sometimes a pudding doesn't turn out right
too long for mourning

it's time to let go, overboard
but with soap and water
maybe I can see eternity

through facets at the mirror
motel room
the Outer Banks in winter

typewriter
tearing out pages, beginning
again that somehow

I could keep you alive forever
immortalize you
with my pathetic ability

maybe I could learn
through you
in the promise of eternal love

immortalized
overboard
in poetry together

we could become mythology
somehow joined
in the afterworld of libraries

in the minds of fanatics
          like me
          carried about to be

more than stories or bones, mythologies
          or poems, but fantastic flesh
          sentient abstractions

holding each other in the 5th dimension
or somewhere comprehensible
but unnamable

where we could eat lobster in black bean sauce
                    after making love
are you waiting for me?

or did you just decide to die again, go
overboard
and forget

about coming back somewhere?
