To Tyler Clay's previous piece
To Tyler Clay's next piece
As I rounded the corner
You blinked out of sight
Farther away
And bleached by the moonlight
But still whistling
To show who you want to be
The momentum of the car
Halts outside the apartment
Where the stairs end
Only after you stop counting
Clothes clammy
After thinking long enough
To sweat
Slow dust from thousands
Of undiscovered holes
Settling on truths
Under their own magnification
I hear the moths
Against the window
Each the size of rain
Somewhere
You will sleep
Still
In your own arms
In a dream
I'm laying my hand
Too close to your elbow.
