"The Tombs" and "[Clouds were torn sails that needles of light were mending in the wind]"
The Tombs
Revenant, your reflection glows on a gold shield in the tombs,
Though you still hide like a wayward shadow concealed in the tombs.
You see faces form in light that passes through floating dust.
You see light shimmer on swords the eidolons wield in the tombs.
You touch the azure diamonds, the gold bracelets & necklaces
Retained in oak chests on royal chariots wheeled in the tombs.
The roaming mist is the iced breath of phantoms that speak to you,
Once seen as approaching figures torchlight revealed in the tombs.
You enter my dream, pace the dark hall where you chiseled the names
Of princes on granite coffins raiders unsealed in the tombs.
[Clouds were torn sails that needles of light were mending in the wind]
Clouds were torn sails that needles of light were mending in the wind,
As the colors of leaves began to swirl, blending in the wind.
Each note from your flute became visible in the air, your song
Was sheet music that whirled into clouds, ascending in the wind.
Akhtari vanished as she began to sing with the rain's voice,
Where her shadow shrank beneath temple trees bending in the wind.
Had you longed to entrance me with your song, or did you seek
To entice all of the Angels, now descending in the wind?
Bulbuls whirred amid orchids, indigo & white, then mimicked
Words from messages the Asuras were sending in the wind.
Mazu's raiment was silken mist lit by the moon, now altered
To a charcoal satin the lightning is rending in the wind.
Akhtari cherished Faiz's lost ghazal, couplets that exist
Only in her dreams, a song that found its ending in the wind.
