“The Concrete Chimera” and “Opaque Fang”

The Concrete Chimera

On the corner of 3rd avenue & Yesler Way , secretly seattle, washington.

Must falling feel like concentrated frostbite
            leaves into fossils,
Fed as tinder,
            into oil drums.

The astray need
embrace.
A glass of warm milk
from a faraway kingdom
            of peaches and cream
            and jesters and kings.

The density sits upon them -
            takes away
            breath.

The knotted rope,
a venomous snake.
Petting, milking
its scaly hood enough,
To exchange alms.

Fellowship there is:
lending naloxone
to a stranger in need,
sharing ice cream
as sustenance,
living together -
copacetic in shelter blankets
letting collective warmth
melt reality - as is.

Brothers and sisters
of streethood bleed -
A blood thicker than
Fossil fuel and oyster liquor.

Organic bonds in a molecular gutter.

Believe what you may,
Say what you’ll say.

This grafted tree
is weatherproof -
            Impervious to
            a winter solstice
            of someone’s scorn.

Roots growing as dendrites
            into cracked pavement.

Opaque Fang

Opaque fang
feigns.
sincere:
dulls the point

to sheer
to dismiss
to ignorance.

Brute bled through,
ravaging ecosystems.
catatonia:
root rotted,
cocooned-celled,
             shift.

Sheepish comfort
unaware:
of death
of dread
of disease.

Offering the jaw:
to soothe doom.
Asunder into dawn.

Silencing the outcry -
that warts each beast.
            tissue: failed camouflage
            as fresh dreams calcify.

Sleep as something
degraded - yet deserved.

someone,
punished,
enough.
