Pat Jolly's photographs have been shown in more than 75 exhibitions. She took her first photography classes at LSU in the 1970s and later, in Colorado, studied under her mentor, Ernst Haas, renowned for his Magnum days, dissolve work and experimental color techniques. At Tulane University, she studied under, among others, head of photography Arthur Okasaki and noted lensman Johnny Donnels, and won awards four consecutive years in their Newcomb Arts Festivals.

Jolly is the recipient of the Danny Barker Keeping History Alive Award (2003), the Contemporary Art Center's SweetART Award (2005), the James Michalopoulos Pirouette Award (2012), Offbeat Magazine's Heartbeat Lifetime Achievement Award (2014), the Cutting Edge Music Conference's Lifetime Achievement Award (2016) and the Peoples Health Champions Award recognizing, in collaboration with the New Orleans Saints, "exceptional and inspirational achievement" (2022).
